Description

DS3225 PRO servo by DSSERVO is a 25kg-class coreless digital servo for RC vehicle steering and robotics projects. Its supplied performance table lists stall torque up to 39 kg·cm at 8.4 V. The 25kg-class model designation should not be confused with the higher-voltage maximum: torque and speed depend on the applied voltage.

Coreless drive, metal gears and IP66 protection

The DS3225 PRO combines a coreless motor with a stainless-steel gear train, CNC aluminum middle shell, double bearings and waterproof gaskets. The supplied product specification identifies IP66 protection. This rating is not a claim that the servo can be continuously submerged; protect the connector and installation from conditions beyond the product rating.

Torque and speed by voltage

Supply voltage Stall torque No-load speed Stall current
5 V 26 kg·cm 0.11 sec/60° 3.5 A
7.4 V 35 kg·cm 0.075 sec/60° 5.2 A
8.4 V 39 kg·cm 0.065 sec/60° 5.8 A

Use only a supply within the specified 5–8.4 V operating range. Select a regulator or receiver BEC that can support the servo’s peak current for the application; do not power it from a microcontroller GPIO pin. The figures above are stall/no-load ratings, not continuous operating values.

PWM control and fitment

This digital servo uses PWM control, a 500–2500 µs pulse range, 1500 µs neutral position, 50–330 Hz operating frequency and 2 µs deadband. The supplied control diagram shows 180° or 270° travel across the pulse range; actual travel depends on the servo configuration and controller endpoints. Confirm the required travel before installation.

The listed body size is 40 × 20 × 38.5 mm and weight is 60 g. The JR-style 3-pin, 2.54 mm connector has a 300 ± 5 mm lead. The listed gear ratio is 195:1. Operating temperature is −15 to 70 °C; storage temperature is −30 to 80 °C. Check the mounting drawing, output spline, available space and steering load against your build before ordering.

Typical applications

The product image identifies 1:8, 1:10 and 1:12 RC cars and robots as target applications. Suitability still depends on the vehicle’s steering load, linkage geometry, mounting pattern, controller voltage and required servo travel.

Package contents

  • 1 × DSSERVO DS3225 PRO servo
  • 1 × 25T adjustable metal servo arm
  • 1 × accessory set, as shown in the product images; exact accessory quantities are not specified by the supplier

Installation and setup notes

Before installation, compare the mounting-hole spacing and body envelope with your chassis or robot bracket. The drawing lists a 40 mm body length, 20 mm body width and 54.5 mm overall mounting-tab width. Check horn clearance through the full steering or joint movement, and make sure the linkage does not force the servo against a mechanical stop. A servo can draw high current while stalled, so size the receiver BEC or regulated supply for the expected load and peak current. The listed stall-current figures reach 5.8 A at 8.4 V.

For first power-up, use a supported voltage and keep the linkage disconnected or unloaded while checking direction and endpoints. Set transmitter or controller travel so the mechanism reaches its intended range without binding. The 1500 µs pulse is the listed neutral position; the product diagram shows 180° or 270° travel, but the actual angle depends on configuration and controller pulse endpoints. Do not assume every receiver or robot controller will use the full 500–2500 µs range.

The supplied wiring diagram identifies a JR-style three-pin, 2.54 mm connector and shows ground, positive supply and PWM signal leads. Wire colors can vary between cable versions, so use the product diagram and verify polarity before connecting power. Reversing supply polarity can damage the servo or connected electronics.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a continuous-rotation servo? No continuous-rotation mode is specified in the supplied product data. It is described as a position-control digital servo with 180° or 270° travel shown in the control diagram.

Does IP66 mean it can be submerged? The product data lists IP66 protection, but it does not state an immersion rating. Keep the connector and cable entry protected and do not use the IP66 label as a submersion claim.

What vehicles can use the DS3225 PRO? The supplied product image names 1:8, 1:10 and 1:12 RC cars and robots. Confirm steering force, bracket dimensions, spline compatibility, required travel and power capacity for your specific build before ordering.

What is included? The supplier package list for the matching Coreless DS3225 PRO row specifies one servo, one 25T adjustable metal servo arm and one accessory set. It does not enumerate each accessory quantity; refer to the product images and confirm any critical hardware requirement before purchase.
